These intricate works of art, each take up to a month to complete. Handwoven and meticulously embroidered by skilled female Maya artisans, these panels reflect the weavers' artistic expression, spiritual beliefs and dedication. 

Our Celestial Stripe combines modern colours with ancient Mayan motifs. The ladder stripes symbolise the connection between earth and the divine, while interwoven butterfly motifs embody transformation. This fabric, ideal for various uses, serves as a bridge between the earthly and celestial realms.

Crafted on the oldest loom, the backstrap loom, that is worn around the weavers' waists, a practice that dates back over 6,000 years and which is carbon neutral.

ABOUT THE ARTISAN


In the heart of Pantelho, Chiapas, we work with close-knit group of Mayan women artisans, united by the ancient art of backstrap loom weaving. Led by a mother-daughter duo, they weave together panels, stitch by stitch, to create exquisite stripe designs which are unique to this village.
