Empowering Communities Through CollaboratioN

Routes Interiors was founded on wanting to preserve and celebrate the amazing weaving techniques, from Chiapas and to build a continuous source of revenue for artisans living in these rural areas. Through this collaboration, we are leveraging the power of our collections to foster community development and empower marginalized populations. By aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, this collaboration is helping advance our designs into a catalyst for social change.

This project comes as a result of a grant won my Akojo Market through UNDP Digital X Solution Programme

84.3% of rural indigenous women live in poverty in Mexico, with gender-based violence, a lack of basic social services, high levels of unemployment and their remote geographical location all being challenges facing them.

At the heart of this collaboration are the needs and aspirations of the local communities, who weave our collections. Our programme will help provide guidance on sustainable production and selling to international markets, whilst investing into technology, education and logistics so that they can continue to operate more efficiently and effectively in the future.

I really look forward to sharing the progress along the way and most importantly our most meaningful collection to date in Autumn 2023.
